Phuket Activities

When most visitors arrive in Phuket they go to Patong and end up feeling that the whole island is like that. Not true. While Patong fairly buzzes with people and activity, there are many other beaches to which one can escape and discover blissful solitude. You just need wheels. South of Patong, Karon, Kata, Kata Noi and Nai Harn beaches are all lovely and very quiet in low season. In the north, there are kilometres of unspoilt beaches. Go explore!

Phuket offer a large sellection of activites, to easily overview we have divided them into six sub pages, featuring watersports, snorkelling, scuba diving, deap-sea fishing, cruising and land sports.

Phuket Nightlife Activities

There is several activities to keep you bussy apart from the usual bar and nightclub scene. To mention a few you have Phuket Fantasea and Simon Cabaret.

Phuket Watersports

Patong beach offers the widest range of watersports facilities. Karon has more than Kata but the facilities at these beaches are limited in comparison with Patong. Hotels on their own private coves have some watersports facilities. Most of the following watersports are offered by beach boys leasing privately-owned equipment.

Phuket Snorkelling

The only good places to snorkel on Phuket are on Kata Yai and Kata Noi beaches; otherwise, head for Phi Phi or the Similan islands. Corals and barnacles are very sharp and can cut deeply, so treat cuts immediately with disinfectant before they fester.

Phuket Diving

The islands around Phuket and the distant Similans provide some of  Southeast Asias finest diving spots. Many dive shops in Patong offer comprehensive courses that lead to internationally recognized PADI or NAUI open-water certification.

Phuket Deep-sea Fishing

The waters off Phuket offer numerous challenges to deep-sea fishermen. Sailfish, barracuda, albacore, marlin, wahoo, tuna and king mackerel are just a few of the many varieties waiting for your baited hook near Chicken or Raja islands southeast of Phuket.

Phuket Cruising

If you have the time and the money, a cruise on the waters of the Andaman Sea can be the experience of a lifetime. Two itineraries are suggested here: a northern route which includes the Similan and Surin islands, and a more intense southern route which includes Racha, Phi Phi, Phang-nga Bay, assorted Trang islands and the Tarutao group.

Phuket Land Sports

Phuket offers a variety of land acctivities, so when you tired of the water and need some change why not try any of these sports, golf, mini-golf, driving range, bowling, shooting, paintball, exercise, thai boxing, horse riding, tennis, go-kart or atv-sports.
